Questions before you apply

Who can apply for cleaning work?

All cleaning work through Maid2Clean is self-employed. Applicants must be 18 or over and have the right to undertake self-employed work in the UK. This includes British and Irish citizens and people whose immigration status permits self-employment. We check your eligibility before work begins.

Can I choose the hours I am available?

Tell us your preferred hours and travel area when you apply. Visits typically last 2 to 6 hours and are usually weekly or fortnightly. Once you take on a client, you need to commit to their agreed regular schedule. Your cleaning round builds over time as suitable clients become available.

Can I do this work on a Student visa?

Student visas normally do not permit self-employment, even when they allow some employed work. Our cleaning work is self-employed, so you can only take it on if your current immigration permission allows this. Check your visa conditions before applying. Read the GOV.UK Student visa guidance.

What does a cleaning visit involve physically?

Domestic cleaning can be physically demanding and includes standing, bending, vacuuming and mopping. You need to be able to carry out the agreed tasks safely during visits of at least 2 hours. Talk to our team if you need reasonable adjustments to the work or the application process.

Do I need to bring cleaning products?

Clients provide their cleaning materials and equipment. Discuss the tasks and any particular requirements before a visit.

What checks are carried out before I start?

We check two references, your identity, address and right to undertake self-employed work. A local interviewer carries out the final interview at your home and explains more about the role before you start.

How much will I earn?

The local team will discuss cleaner pay and available work with you before you take on a client.
